Behind the Design: The Stoneridge Traditional Project

Interior Design

Today we are sharing the behind the scenes of a project that has been wrapped for a several months now (installed back in April), but due to the delays in the supply chain we were waiting on that FINAL piece before photographing to share with you all! This project was so fun as we were able to infuse such rich colors and florals with traditional elements and ornate lines. Some of our favorite elements over here at LMID.

Challenges

Our clients wanted to completely transform their space with all new furnishings and bring in some color. Their primary living room space is not large, however with their children now out of their home they didn't need as much seating as they had. They also have a large family room in their basement to accommodate much more seating. Our clients wanted a cozy space to relax and watch TV in the evenings.

The current window treatments were dated and needed some freshening. The breakfast nook was a perfect opportunity to infuse some creativity to accommodate more seating and functional use of space. Light fixtures throughout were also due for updating.

Our client's had honey oak trim and a beige paint color which was resulting in an overall dull feeling in these otherwise light and bright filled areas!

The Design Plan

With 10' ceilings and a beautiful view we wanted to accentuate that by adding gorgeous tall custom pinch pleat draperies. To add a punch of color and pattern that would be the jumping off point for the entire design, we did a custom roman shade with a maroon trim detail. In the breakfast nook we did 4 double wide panels so they could be used functionally and still have enough fabric to look full when closed.

In the living room we scaled back the size of the furniture to allow for the room to look larger. We arranged the furniture to be more cozy and conversational. The leather power motion recliner is the perfect space to kick back and relax in the evenings. Our client's were deciding on whether or not they wanted to do an electric fireplace, so we provided 2 options for them. In the end, they opted to skip on the electric fireplace - at least for now.

The dining room is open directly to the living room so we kept the style and color palette consistent. We repurposed the client's dining table, which is perfect for the space and opted for some new dining chairs. Our client's love the traditional style and ornate lines, so we incorporated a ceiling medallion in the dining space paired with a black and crystal chandelier. STUNNING.

And finally in their breakfast nook we went all out and dreamed up a custom banquette bench. This space is now a showstopper in their home and oh so functional as well.
